Charity Squad for Make-A-Wish

Our CSB locations (Cleveland, Howards Grove, and Elkhart Lake) will be collecting donations for stars benefiting Make-A-Wish Wisconsin. Stop by between July 1st through August 31st, and help us make an impact for children in Wisconsin! As Make-A-Wish says “Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses”.

Did you know that…

  • Since 1984, the Wisconsin Chapter has granted wishes for more than 7,500 children.
  • Now more than ever, hope is essential. Make-A-Wish is committed to ensuring that no child waits even one unnecessary day to experience the hope and strength that a wish brings.
  • Research shows children who have a wish granted build the physical and emotional strength they need to fight a critical illness, giving them a higher quality of life and, thus, better health outcomes.
  • Make-A-Wish Wisconsin is a two-time recipient of the prestigious Wisconsin Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Ethics and Integrity and was a highest-rated 4-star charity three years in a row by Watchdog group, Charity Navigator.
  • The Chapter is also the first in the country to win the Power of One Award from Make-A-Wish America for its contributions to the entire Make-A-Wish enterprise.

Your Impact Matters

Meet Wish Kid: Makayla

Meet wish kid Makayla, who is living with an uncontrollable seizure disorder, which has severely impaired her development. She receives a lot of different therapies to help with her speech, balance and motor skills, which are all impacted by her frequent seizures. Makayla’s favorite therapy is when she gets the chance to ride a therapy horse. Thanks to our compassionate supporters like you, Makayla’s greatest wish to have her very own therapy horse was granted a few weeks back!

Makayla has always had confidence issues, believing she could not do anything or would not be good at anything. She has wanted a horse since she was six years old, but due to her illness and me losing jobs because I needed to be with her, I was never able to save enough to buy her one. Since you wonderful people have granted her wish, Makayla now feels she is good at something and that’s having her own horse and taking good care of him! You have changed my daughter’s life in ways you will never know and I’m truly grateful for each and every one of you who made this possible for her!” – Makayla’s mom Carrie

Meet Wish Kid: Amelia

Four-year-old Amelia loves swimming and camping! Amelia’s family was heartbroken when she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. She has had to endure many doctor visits, hospital stays and scary procedures. On top of all the medical concerns she and her family have endured, her father suddenly passed away last year.

With everything she has been through, Amelia was very excited to learn she qualified to receive a wish. She began the dreaming process and it did not take her long to realize what she most wanted was a camper. Amelia’s dad had a great appreciation for camping and spending time with her outdoors. After his sudden passing, Amelia’s wish to have a camper couldn’t be more meaningful. It is sure to bring her many wonderful memories for years to come.

Meet Wish Kid: Abigail

Abigail is a sweet 6-year-old girl from Appleton who loves, horses, playing games and being outside. Abigail’s family was devastated when she was diagnosed with Langerhans cell histiocytosis, a dangerous disorder where the body produces too many white blood cells that can cause damage to organs or form tumors. She has endured intensive chemotherapy and many hospital stays.

When Abigail learned that she qualified for a wish, she had a lot of big ideas. Abigail loves all animals, especially horses, and dreams about becoming a veterinarian someday. Abigail decided that her one true wish was to have horseback riding lessons so she can learn more about her favorite animal! Following Abigail’s wish day, her mom shared about the happy tears that were shed and how much Abigail has loved the lessons.

Meet Wish Kid: Nathan

A sweet four-year-old boy from Little Chute who loves to play outside. Nathan was diagnosed with a neurological condition that delays his speech, but his near-constant smile shows you what a happy child he is. Nathan was very excited when he learned that he qualified for a wish! He has the best time when he can play pretend construction, ride his bike, and go camping. Thanks to the incredible generosity of people like you, we recently granted Nathan’s life-changing wish to have a camper and he is so excited t go off on many new adventures where can have fun, explore new places, all while playing in a safe environment. Nathan will be able to experience so many new things with his family, without thinking of all the time they spend apart due to his difficult medical journey.

THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts for your great care and generosity to help give needed hope, strength and great joy to local kids like Nathan battling critical illnesses through the power of a wish!
